Cicerone - The Islands of Croatia

From the Kvarner Gulf (south of Rijeka) to southern Dalmatia (west of Dubrovnik), the Croatian islands feature limestone ridges and toothy knolls alternating with olive groves and lush green forest, while coastlines boast sun-drenched beaches and striking cliffs.

The islands are covered by a network of superb hiking trails. Paths are almost uniformly clear and well marked, and the views are frequently spectacular. The walks cover 14 islands spread fairly evenly along the length of the Croatian coast, visiting better-known places such as Hvar, Brac and Mljet, as well as less well-known spots such as Dugi otok and Lastovo.

From short coastal strolls to full-day outings over rocky summits, the walks in this guidebook cover an island chain of outstanding beauty. While a moderate level of fitness is assumed, the routes described are in general very easy - none require any scrambling / climbing skills or equipment, and the amount of ascent, the duration and the distances involved are moderate.
