Description
Sunflower Landscape Guide – Cyprus
Walking in Cyprus or exploring Cyprus by car is an experience to treasure for a lifetime – or, as the Cypriots put it, ‘Once been, never forgotten’. You can stroll for miles along the southeast coast or hike through the woods in the famous Troodos Mountains (stopping for lunch at one of the trout farms).
But in recent years most walkers are exploring the ‘far west’ – the Akamas Peninsula, now a nature reserve, where the Tourism Organisation has established some fine nature trails. (In all, there are 52 nature trails on the island, some short and easy, others very demanding.)
This pocket-sized guide describes car tours, picnic places and walks all round the island. There is a fold-out touring map for motorists, which also highlights the various walking areas. For those without a car, there are timetables for local transport.
6 car tours (and accompanying touring map), 65 long and short walks (each illustrated with 1:50,000 topo map), 15 picnic suggestions. Plans of Lefkosia, Pafos, Larnaka, Lemesos, Agia Napa. Free online update service with specific route change information on the publisher’s website, maintained daily.
The ‘Landscapes’ series, with 50 destinations, has been dubbed ‘the blue Bibles’ by the Sunday Times and led to Sunflower being one of only four publishers (from a field of 18) chosen as a Which? Recommended Provider of Guidebooks.
