The Isle of Mull is rugged, in many parts untamed and trackless, and everywhere it offers walkers of all abilities something special. That wildness also makes Mull, and its outlying islands, outstanding places to spot creatures such as eagles, otters, dolphins and porpoises.
Mull is an island you can visit at any time of the year, and the walking is just as agreeable in winter as in summer (as long as you are appropriately skilled and experienced in venturing into the high mountains in winter).
The routes in this guidebook range from 5 to 22km (3 to 14 miles) and from short circuits close to civilisation to truly remote and demanding mountain treks. The walks are widely varied, and provide something for everyone, embracing high mountains, lonely lochs, coastal cliffs, glens and forests.
